Create and import assets

Add one asset from the register, or import multiple assets from an Excel file.

Create one asset

Choose a Category before an Asset Type. If the options you need do not exist, set them up in Categories and Asset types first.

Open the asset register

Fill in the details
Use the field reference below. Choose a category before choosing an asset type.

Select Create Asset
Ark confirms that the asset was created and closes the dialog. Find the new record in the asset register.

Field	Required	Details
Asset Tag	Required	A unique identifier for the asset. Enter a value; Ark does not generate one in this dialog.
Name	Required	The name shown for the asset in the register and selection lists.
Description	Optional	Additional details about the asset. If supplied, it cannot be blank.
Category	Required	Choose the category that contains this asset. Changing it clears the selected Asset Type.
Asset Type	Required	Choose a type from the selected category. The options load after you select Category.

Use this path for multiple records. After import, search for the new records in the asset register. Open one to review its asset details.

Download the template
The template is prefilled with your categories, types, locations, departments, and members.

Fill and upload the template
Select one or more completed Excel files that match the template.

Select Import Assets
Ark reports imported and skipped counts. If it finds errors or warnings, the dialog stays open so you can review them.

Excel files	Required	Upload at least one completed template. Multiple files are accepted; each must meet the file constraints shown in the dialog.
